How do I apply for a Habitat for Humanity home in Wenatchee?
Download the application packet on our Homeownership page, complete it, and return it to our office at 1408 Washington St, Wenatchee, WA 98801. Our Family Selection Committee reviews every application and follows up with qualified applicants.
What are the income requirements for a Habitat home?
Partner families generally earn a limited but steady income and must show they can repay an affordable mortgage. Income limits are based on household size and area median income for Chelan and Douglas Counties, and are listed in the current application packet.
Is a Habitat home free?
No. Habitat homeownership is a hand up, not a handout. Homeowners purchase their home with an affordable, low interest or no-interest mortgage and contribute sweat equity hours helping build their home and others.
Where is the Habitat Store (ReStore) in Wenatchee and what are its hours?
The Habitat Store is at 615 S Wenatchee Ave, Wenatchee, WA 98801, open Thursday through Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Call (509) 667-1638 with questions about inventory or donations.
What items can I donate to the Habitat Store?
We accept gently used furniture, appliances in working order, cabinets, doors, windows, trim, lighting, hardware, and surplus building materials. Please bring donations to the store during open hours so a staff member can help unload.
How do I volunteer, and can groups volunteer together?
Individuals and groups are both welcome on the build site, at the Habitat Store, and at events. No construction experience is needed. Contact our volunteer coordinator at (509) 860-3368 to schedule a shift or a team-building group build.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Wenatchee Area is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so monetary, vehicle, and material donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. We provide a receipt for every donation.
What area does Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Wenatchee Area serve?
We serve Wenatchee, East Wenatchee, and the surrounding communities of Chelan and Douglas Counties in Washington State. We have been building locally since 1990.
